the cuteness continues

ahhEeeek! sigh.

She did that just a day or two ago. They say about this time, babies start to squeal. We always bring her to the dinner table with us. Usually she wants to eat just as we're about to, so poor Cheryl doesn't get to eat right away. But Gwenny's a fast eater. Just takes about 5 minutes. Then she's ready to watch us eat from her high chair.

It's interesting to me. We're all eating our food and my first thought is to share with her and to think that she would like to try what I'm having. But that's not true, yet. She really has no interest in what we're eating. And that's a strange thought. It doesn't occur to her that she might want what we're having.

Anyway, at dinner tonight, she was making a lot of soft aaahhhuuuuu? sounds. The '?' on the end of that means her sound has a funny little high pitched sound on the end of her word as if looking for confirmation. It's very cute. Then, while we were all talking, she let out a ahEeeeek! sound. Of course, we all stopped and looked at her. Cheryl and I were completely thrilled. My mom said that she's trying to converse with the rest of us, since we're all making noises with our mouths.

She must be right, and we couldn't help but stop and listen to what she had to say.

that little face

My dad (Bernie) looked at this picture and said, "wow! She sure looks different than she did 1 1/2 weeks ago!" This, you must understand, is bitter sweet to me.

Having a look on her just a few minutes ago, I saw her sleeping and breathing softly. I can't explain how it feels to turn my back and leave the room. Normally I walk backwards a little, but seeing her move away as I back up is not much more comforting. I feel like if I go to sleep tonight, I might wake up and she'll be much older, and these tender moments will be long gone and I'll be left to only my memories.

I feel like the time is slipping between my fingers. The precious moments, too short for me to grasp in my fumbling hands.

Please stay like this forever.
